Hi! I just wanted to say my working website is zanottaway.com or zanottaway.com
PetsAndSpirits.Typepad.com is more of a Blog!
I don’t get to it a lot but will try to comment more
about philosophical questions I’ve been thinking about.
Like where did this motivational saying originate?:
“Watch your thoughts as your thoughts become your words.
Watch your words as your words become your actions.
Watch your actions because they become your habits,
Habits become Character and Character becomes destiny.”
Turns out it wasn’t Lao Tzu I read online, but a grocery whole seller.
It also surfaced in England before that; but these American and English men lengthened it from what was originally an old Buddhist scripture about thoughts, actions, and habits of mind becoming actual habits. I think! Will be back with a Buddhist scriptural reference for this.
A good friend of mine commented back, “Dorothy Day said people should just try a little harder!”

So anyway here is a quote from the Dhammapada in Pali
according to a book I am reading:
“All actions are led by the mind; mind is their master, mind is their maker. Act or speak with an unwholesome state of mind, and suffering will follow as the cart-wheel follows the steps of the ox. All actions are led by the mind; mind is their master, mind is their maker. Act or speak with a pure state of mind, and happiness will follow as your shadow follows you without departing.” So this is attributed to the Buddha.
The book is ‘Loving-Kindness in Plain English: The Practice of Metta’ by Henepola Guanarata and we are reading it as part of a class with Kim Weeber of RiverValleyInsight.org Funny how this saying has evolved so much into pop culture. I hear and see it a lot these days!
